a standing pose i’m really pleased with, and a drawing that would be cool if the drawing of the hand weren’t so bad!
I have recently undertaken the exciting adventure of running Draw‘s life drawing sessions weekly on a thursday evening. So far I’ve done a Pandora’s Box and a Puppet theme, and next week will be a gothic theme. Here is one of my drawings from the session:
Above are the newsletters I designed and had published for the Brighton Fringe Festival for the Hurly Burly tent. I put on a wonderful children’s outdoor circus themed drawing event over three weekends, with some fantastic drawings produced by children and adults alike. Here are some photos from the day:
Below is the winning drawing:
I decided to take a risk and paint directly onto the wall of the exhibition space, which worked really well: the time constraint and adrenaline meant I managed to break free of my usual A3-sized restraint and produce something quick, fluid and intuitive. I am also happy that I finally managed to realise some of my more ambitious ideas through the opportunity of an exhibition – the scale allowed me to incorporate 3D work (the violins) on a plinth, and a piece of creative writing from the “Chance and Order” project in which i randomly chose words and composed a piece of writing from a word pool which reads :
“Silence, could it be darkness? It’s marrow always screams bone not density. Breath in the squawked oxygen calling lightness crushed as though diamond. She had only charred ash. They were exploding sun carbon like sever nothing. It was gasping voice.”
